Since 2007, I have been a proud resident of Lower Manhattan. Living just blocks away from the World Trade Center site, I’ve had the great privilege of watching Ground Zero transform from an empty superblock to a dynamic construction site, home to two rapidly rising skyscrapers (1 WTC & 4 WTC) with two others (2 WTC & 3 WTC) on the way. Over the years, I've tried my best to document the WTC progress through photos and I'd like to share some of those images with you here.
A few photos from this evening, the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Views of source of the Tribute In Light (the top of a parking garage). Both 1 WTC & 4 WTC are lit up tonight, as well, in red, white & blue.
I snapped this photo of a patriotic looking 1 WTC yesterday morning before dawn as I was riding my bike to the gym. It is lit up in honor of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The red, white, & blue lights look beautiful against the purple sky!
I was able to capture a few images this evening from my roofdeck, despite the rain. The first is the Tribute In Light, which I believe they are currently testing for the upcoming 10th anniversary of 9/11. The second is a view of the WTC site looking north from my roofdeck, with 4 WTC in the foreground and 1 WTC in the background.
Blue skies today! Here’s the view from my livingroom window. Front and center you can see 1 WTC (left) and 4 WTC (right) . Trinity Church steeple is in the foreground on the right. The tan building behind the church is the Trinity Building at 111 Broadway. The tall blue building on the left is the new W Downtown Hotel.
One World Trade Center at night, captured from the corner of Greenwich & Cedar Streets just south of the WTC site. The two buildings on the left are part of the World Financial Center in Battery Park City and the building on the right is 7 WTC.
